Press Release
LARRY ADLER at STRINGFELLOWS
In celebration of the musical genius Larry Adler and the instrument that he made famous,
a very special evening took place at Stringfellows on Saturday 13 February, 2016.
Larry’s good friend Peter Stringfellow held a birthday party for Larry every year at his famous club.
Keeping with tradition, Peter hosted a private celebration to remember Larry’s musical genius.
The event was organised by internationally acclaimed photographer Gary Italiaander, also a close friend
and author of ‘Reflections’ – A Tribute to Larry Adler, Harmonica Genius.
The evening included recordings of Larry’s anecdotes and amazing playing as well as some live performances.
Behind every great musician is a master technician who ensures that the musical instrument being played
is capable of performing at its very best and such a man is
Dr Antony Dannecker whose family had a unique association with Larry.
Dr Dannecker has donated one of his superb, gold plated ‘Optimus’ harmonicas which he created for the celebration and which is inscribed to commemorate the evening. In addition, a unique portrait of Larry – a combination of a portrait photograph and oil painting – which was a collaboration between the virtuoso musician, photographer Gary Italiaander and painter Michael Italiaander was displayed on the evening.
